Purpose

VISION

Our vision is a vibrant and inclusive live music culture across Australia, with culturally significant venues protected, musicians valued, and communities engaged.

Our vision is a vibrant live music culture across Australia with:

  • preserved and protected music venues of cultural significance;
  • active and inclusive community participation in music at all levels;
  • abundant opportunities and improved working conditions for musicians;
  • high social valuation of the importance of live music, musicians and diverse styles and expressions of music.

MISSION

Our mission is to build and support successful and inclusive live music venues through partnerships and advocacy. We seek to achieve this by:

  • supporting and fostering live music in Australia;
  • working in partnership to develop and preserve inclusive and successful venues;
  • advocating for musicians and the people who work with them to make live music;
  • promoting the value that live music brings to people, culture and places; and
  • paying respect to and preserving the history and legacy of live music and music venues in Australia.

CORE VALUES

  • Collaboration: We collaborate with venues, musicians, fans, industry organisations, government and the wider public to achieve our aims.
  • Celebration: We celebrate all types of live music, strive for a safe and inclusive scene, and respect diverse peoples, cultures and points of view.
  • Creativity: We value creativity, are open to new ideas and innovation, are adaptable and flexible in problem solving, and support people to express themselves.
  • Preservation: We value the live music history of Australia and seek to preserve that history.

OUR CONSTITUTION

Our constitution formally sets out the purpose and objects of the foundation.

The foundation engages in the following activities as a non-profit cultural organisation:

  • advancing the public’s knowledge, enjoyment and engagement with the arts through the promotion and encouragement of live music performances at music venues;
  • developing performance opportunities for local musicians, and promote attendance and participation in live music events;
  • promoting safe and inclusive environments for the performance of live music;
  • promoting regulatory compliance and fair pay in the live music community;
  • promoting the health and safety of persons in the live music community;
  • building the live music community, including by working with musicians, venue operators, government, the media and other relevant parties;
  • holding, maintaining and supplying assets, including real property, for the accommodation and operation of live music venues;
  • seeking and maintaining endorsement as a registered charity, cultural organisation and deductible gift recipient;
  • establishing and maintaining a public fund, and inviting the public to contribute to that fund;
  • raising funds by donation, subscription or otherwise for the pursuit of the objects set out in this clause; and
  • other activities complementary to these activities.
